Onboard Emirates EK421

Well at long last, after months of anticipation and maybe a little gloating, I finally got to my First Class dream using my stash of Qantas Frequent Flyer points.  After all the hours reading and researching, to be honest my very first impression was that it was smaller than anticipated.  Put it down to all the wide angle shots I had consumed.  As I settled in though, the luxury and excitement of it all came to the fore.  As the flight continued, I appreciated every last bit.

As soon as I had been welcomed and seated, drinks were offered.  Even though it was only to be the lowly (yet vintage) Moet, madam accepted. Two minutes later my sleeping kit was delivered, followed by the amenities bag.  I was running out of room to store things!  I created a little flurry of worry when I asked to swap my PJs for men's.  Madam wants gentleman's sleeping pajamas?  Madam's prior research had revealed the women's pants have ribbed ankles, while men's are loose ended.

Alas the famed writing kit has been replaced with a notebook, so Sam there was no dashing off a "polite" letter for you as we so enjoyed in The Favourite.  The basket of goodies really does contain an odd mix, popcorn, mints, yoghurt slice were some of the choices.  My first thought was why would I bother with such ordinary fare, however I did later find a home for the chocolate macadamias.

The TV screen is massive, with a smaller controller to the side of the chair, so one doesn't need to stretch or actually get up to use the TV touch screen.
Storage is a bit tricky with carry on bags needing to go under the TV area, but enough over to one side so the chair/bed isn't impeded.  There are a couple of hatches for smaller items and essentials, so I managed to make do.  😇

The motorised mini-bar is so over-the-top, but really is a bit silly given it holds room temperature drinks.

The window shades are electronic also, with single or double shade options which is very neat. See video in previous post.

The amenities under the makeup mirror, including Pillow Mist!
Contents of amenities bag

PJs satchel, tote bag, amenities bag (this is all bad news for my luggage limit for internal flights)

The bartender preparing the Breakfast Martini.

Sipsmith London Dry Gin with marmalade, shaken with Cointreau, orange and lemon juice

I'll get to the rest of the food and wine in the next post.

  1. Love everything here. I would have had the same request for the PJs. That must have sent them scurrying.....

    1. Yes Jo, tote bag was a gift as well. In my quest to keep my luggage within limits for internal flights, I gifted this to Joan at the end of the cruise. I assumed I would get another one on the return flight BUT I DIDN'T. Sob!

  3. Noooo! Such a shame about the tote bag. Everything else awesome, although I’m pretty sure you could have tried harder to dash me off a letter Miss Linda. I suspect if you had said “I have a pressing need to pen a letter” you probably would have been delivered the appropriate tools.
