The London Look
My favourite photo in London.
My charming chauffeur was waiting for me and parked directly outside as I finally left the Emirates adventure . If only life were really like this - teehee. It was though almost a 2 hour drive, thanks to landing in Gatwick, and London traffic. Still I cannot claim any hardship.
Checked into the very central Hotel Megaro - opposite St Pancras and Kings Cross Stations. What a fabulous room, and wonderful light weight bathrobe for my now familiar lounging attire.
The shower proved somewhat challenging. You know how hotel baths always have the default water flow to the tub instead of the shower (who uses the tub?) and one has to invoke some sort of witch craft / cursing / random button pushing combination to make the shower work? Well this one had another option, which took me somewhat by surprise. Option 3 produced shower flow AND jets shooting horizontally at me from four points. Given I didn't know how I made it happen, there was a bit of panic before I could make it stop. How bizarre.
Traipsed around the two railway stations trying to get my Eurail pass activated. Success after the 5th attempt from various staff. Came back to earth with a thud, going from eating caviar in the air, to having a beef burrito at a train station. 😂
Managed to stay awake until 7pm local time, then had a wonderful deep sleep.
The housekeeping store room, directly opposite mine, produced another head scratcher. Still not sure what it means, but to be on the safe side, I made friends by handing over most of my Emirates amenities bounty.
I did a practice run to Paddington station to make sure there were no stairs to negotiate when going to Heathrow the next day. Sorted out a weird online drama - someone had taken over my Netflix account and locked me out.
Apart from that, a bit of wandering, good pizza for dinner and an early night.

Good old London Town. I know what you mean about tricky showers in Europe. Honestly, sometimes it involves such a challenge that one wonders if the time involved working it all out is longer than the total time you spend having a shower. I generally have to start by wearing my glasses!! so I can read any words/ signs on the handles/ knobs.
