Wednesday Ydra - on the island
Just so beautiful. No cars, only donkeys, bicycles or on foot. I saw several residents trailing a plastic fruit crate of groceries behind via a rope. Very easy method of carriage, given the cobblestones were so smooth and slippery. It was quite hot, but wonderful to stretch my legs, have a wander on my own and take a squillion photos even though the light was not kind in the middle of the day.
I had a great Greek salad with a lot of feta!, and a cooling ale before joining the others for the trip home. Alighting from the water taxi to our boat: 8/10 degree of difficulty. But in this case, dodgy knees no issue and long legs, definite advantage.
The waterfront shops had beautiful clothes and jewellery but I resisted. Would love to return and stay longer. The one take-home we did get seemed to be a boat load of flies for a few days. We blame the dear donkeys.

Again I love the photos - particularly on land
ReplyDeleteLooks gorgeous. I hope they treat the donkeys well and it’s not one of those places where they make them carry obese tourists up loads of stairs and massive hills
