Would Madam care to order something from the menu?

Emirates provides the menu, and you order what you want, when you want.  I may have been too full of champagne, but didn't have a main dinner on the journey.  When I boarded in Perth (1030pm) I was so, so tired I didn't want to have a big meal immediately.  Just a delicate (several) glasses of Dom Perignon 2008, a bite to eat and then a sleep was the plan.  I felt it only fair to also sample the 2006 Dom Perignon Rose, which met with my approval.

I had the Arabic Mezze, as much for the presentation as the content to start.  Served on Royal Doulton, it was a masterpiece in itself.  Right down to the personal serves of olive oil and balsamic and the mini salt and pepper grinders (which I desperately wanted to souvenir).   I followed with entree of lime and chili prawns which was disappointing.  I clearly didn't judge it photo-worthy and it was quite bland.  So disappointed with this outcome, I cried myself to sleep - haha.

One of the lovely attendants made up my bed, while I tote-bagged my Pjs to the bathroom for a quick change.  The bed is very comfortable and being able to close the doors to the suite was simply divine.

I only managed about 4 hours fitful sleep, waking every hour, before I gave up.  I went for a stroll to stretch my legs, destination the onboard bar.  To get to the bar, I had to walk through Business class and saw all those wretched souls fitfully trying to get some rest in their non-starry-night ceiling, and door-less accommodations leaving them exposed to the world.  I shuddered and hurried by.

Not much action at the bar, so I did a few laps and tried unsuccessfully for some more sleep.  So with must-do-everything time ticking by, I headed back to the bar and ordered a Breakfast martini from the slightly surprised bartender.  It was delicious and will be another must-do on the return trip.

After my shower/spa! I had a more traditional (solid) breakfast of fruit and yoghurt.

On the second flight leg, I had my first caviar which was so, so good.  Again, my appetite wasn't there for a full main, so ended up with a second serve of caviar and cheese platter over the six hours.  Plus the champagne of course. And a glass or two of Pouilly Fume Les Terres Blanches Pascal Jolivet 2017 from the Loire Valley.

  2. Yummo. The nibbly serves appear quite generous. Why was the bartender surprised? What did he expect you to be asking of him at the bar?
