Glyfada to Salamina - Sunday

We set off around 11am, very exciting to be underway.  The winds were still substantial, but eased off as the day progressed.  I certainly picked the right bunch to sail with, with Jacquie and Stephen being very experienced boaties and the others all the others being entirely capable and able bodied.  For the good of everyone, this means I am not allocated any anchor or fender management duties as we stop and start each day.   Phew.

After stopping for a wonderful swim in a secluded spot, followed by lunch on board, we anchored off Salamina.
Later in the day, five of us went to the island to stretch the legs and have a look around.   Our boat has a dinghy/tender, so our Captain Kostantina ferries us to and from land as we please.  What a wonderful set up.

After walking as far as we could along the beach, we found a delightful, tiny taverna on the return walk.  We sat under the trees and had the obligatory rose, some calamari, chips and olives.  That's our catamaran background left in the photo below.

Joan prepared dinner on board for us and we had a great night of eating, drinking and laughing.  The boat has many areas for sitting, dining, reading etc so we don't have to be in each other's pockets all the time.  I seem to play a game of mobile Goldilocks during the day, moving to avoid the sun and/or get a breeze.  The others are happy to sit and lay in the sun for long periods.  I would be burned to a crisp.
The rooms are not really set up for being in during the day, but are fine to sleep in, sometimes a bit hot.  I must admit I am pleased I am not sharing my space though, like Emily and Jason are in the same size cabin.  Then again, they have been married 15 years, so are pretty used to the company.

Jason lay face down on the netting for 30 minutes which created an interesting net imprint on his torso.  I named it the 36-pack.  I rather wish I'd taken a photo, but it seemed a little forward to ask someone I'd known a day if I could take a photo of his bare chest.
However, given that in recent days he has offered his body to all as a floating bar, I don't think he would have minded. Floating bar pictures to come 😂

  1. You look very comfortable in your delightful surrounding surroundings. I’m glad to see a photo of your Captain as I had a completely different image in my head of who would be guiding you about. Also had no idea what a “tender” looked like. How swish.
